PELIN’S ISTANBUL
BORN INTO A TRANSITION.
“I was not born into a city; I was born into a transition.” In 1973, as the Bosphorus Bridge opened its arches to connect two continents, I entered the world in Istanbul.
Without realizing it, I grew up with a bridge—existing in the space between Asia and Europe, between the past and the future.
“A CITY THAT LISTENS, CONNECTS, AND CARRIES.”
Strengthened by harmony.
My roots are kneaded with migration—Bosnian, Circassian, Syrian, Thessaloniki… A soul strengthened by the harmony of these diverse echoes.
This is why I do not fear taking root, nor do I fear setting off. Istanbul is not a city that merely runs; it is a city that carries.
